We are now searching for a Divisional Head of Merchandise who is hungry to be part of this reputable organisation’s next chapter. This is a role where you can make a real difference.

What will you do in an average week?
  • Reporting in at an Executive level, you will bring your experience and credibility to the forefront in the reviewing, setting and executing of the strategic merchandise direction, ensuring its delivery in line with the ‘brand promise’ that will support the growth and future direction of the business
  • Reviewing the pricing, promotional and layout strategies will naturally form part of your remit, as will ensuring expertise knowledge is applied in the forecasting, inventory management, commercial/trading terms negotiation and supplier management and development
  • Additionally, a fresh perspective and expert approach to supplier relationships will produce further opportunities for attractive ‘win-win’ outcomes
  • Delivering the results consistently, by communicating expectations and creating a culture of accountability will be a key focus as will analysing store financial data and developing/implementing action plans to deliver results
  • This role will see you working at both a strategic and 'day to day' level, assessing and executing best practice category management and retail strategies, aligned with the customer's priorities
  • Your ultimate success will come from your ability to lead and mentor your team, create and execute innovation whilst providing a second to none merchandise and services offer

Here’s what it will take:
  • You are a reputable self-starting and proven National Merchandise/Buying/Business Manager from within a large retail environment, leading high volumes and SKU intensive divisions, teams and portfolios
  • You are a leader who is professionally mature: you inspire confidence, and you have the capability to lead and drive a customer-led change agenda
  • You are proven: in your understanding and demonstrated application of the ‘best in class’ category management principles and in your ability to introduce, lead and teach them to others
  • You have an ability: to think beyond and deliver tomorrows innovation today and you have always demonstrated sound judgment in anticipating challenges, problem-solving, and seeking the right resources to resolve issues
  • You take a non-hierarchical approach: you are prepared and comfortable getting your hands  dirty as much as you are performing the strategic and high-level relationship management aspects of the role
  • You have an ability to influence a diverse internal and external stakeholder network: you inspire with ease, and you can drive change, with people always on your journey
