What’s involved:

The ideal candidate is an experienced Carrier Network Operations Engineer generalist, with a background working with a Broadband Service Provider. Must have demonstrated experience troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues to a critical timeline.

Core responsibilities for this role include:
  • Network design and architecture across the national points of presence
  • Vendor and growth management
  • Ensuring 99.999% network uptime and quality
  • Responsible for all interconnection partnerships and capacity management
  • Acting as the point of contact for core Network related issues
  • Managing escalated network related tickets from the service desk
  • Reducing network related incidents via strong problem management capabilities (i.e. root cause analysis, trends analysis etc.)
  • Assist the Service Desk in general IT support for clients
Please note: this role will require out of hours on-call support and experience managing P1 and P2 incidents. 

Essential skills, experience and qualifications include:
  • Juniper MX series BNG with dynamic profiles on hierarchical stacked networks
  • Juniper QFX carrier switching with vlan swapping, QoS, vlan tunnelling
  • Fortinet firewall experience is a must have
  • Subscriber management with extensive knowledge in PPPoE and IPoE communication
  • NBNCo™ experience with interconnecting and delivering mass market NBN consumer and business grade services on Junos, authenticated by AAA on Radius, with radius controlling variable substitution in dynamic profiles
  • L2TP legacy experience in LAC and LNS legs and the negotiation stack
  • CG-NAT experience with high performance NAT-44 deterministic implementations to maximise value in exhausting IPv4 assets
  • IPv6 expert with dual stack being native implemented with SLAAC, DHCP6, and PD
  • Expert understanding of subscriber debugging techniques on MX and QFX
  • DDOS detection and mitigation experience including BGP community use for blocking
  • Excellent knowledge and practical experience in BGP, ISIS, OSPF multi-area with complex route manipulation and preferencing in a multi edge least cost network
  • Troubleshooting network related issues within a service provider environment
  • Excellent verbal communication skills over the phone and customer service attitude.
  • Knowledge and practical use of EVPN, VRF, MPLS, NAT, QoS; VPNs (SSL and IPsec, preferably also with exposure to route-based VPNs, VTIs, GRE, and DMVPN).
  • Certified Juniper JNCIE-Service Provider
  • Certified Fortinet Professional Level 5 or above
Any experience or qualifications in the following will also be highly regarded:
  • Cisco CCIE Service Provider 
  • Cisco CCDE Design Expert
  • Juniper JNCIE Security
  • F5 certification
  • ITILv3 certification
  • Experience in designing large scale networks
  • Experience working with mission critical networks
  • Worked with monitoring tools and developed metrics for network availability
  • Experience in cloud networks, carrier services, technical design and implementations including IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS delivery model (AWS and/or Azure experience ideal)
  • Experience with SD-WAN, SD-DC, SDN, Wireless
  • AWS, Azure, GCP certifications
