The Opportunity
This is more than a State Manager position — it’s a career-defining opportunity to shape culture, drive sales growth, and influence the ongoing success of a market-leading supermarket group.
Working to your strengths you will:
- Head up the $780M Victorian state (55 supermarkets) taking full accountability for sales, profitability, people development, and operational excellence
- Lead impact-fully your sizeable and highly capable Supermarket Supervisors (Area/Regional Managers) & State Fresh Leaders — ensuring to build capability and to inspire ambition, that will result in the delivery of strong, measurable results and outcomes.
What You’ll Do
- Drive sales and profit: Implement strategies that deliver consistent sales growth, margin improvement, and operational excellence.
- Inspire leadership: Coach and empower your team of Supermarket Supervisors (Area/Regional Managers) and State Fresh Leaders as well as their teams to achieve and exceed performance targets.
- Champion customer experience: Ensure every store delivers service, quality, and presentation that exceed expectations.
- Execute with precision: Translate strategy into action, ensuring accountability, performance, and results at every level.
- Lead commercial initiatives: Analyse performance data, identify opportunities, and implement initiatives that grow revenue and efficiency.
- Collaborate to grow: Partner with merchandise, operations, and marketing to align regional performance with national priorities.
- Shape the next chapter: Bring fresh thinking, innovation, and leadership influence on the future direction of the business.
- A proven sales and operations leader in a multi-site retail operations leadership role of similar scale and dimension.
- Ideally your experience comes from within supermarkets, where you have held roles at a Regional, State or National level. Other senior level, large format retail operations experience will be considered however Supermarket and Fresh Food (fruit/meat/deli/bakery) experience is ideal at some point in your background.
- Known for driving results through people — blending sharp commercial instinct with genuine care and connection.
